Join knitter Tanya Ehrsam to learn the fundamentals of sock knitting. Whether you're a beginner or have some knitting experience, this class will teach you how to create your very own pair of comfortable, hand-knit socks from start to finish.
Students will learn basic techniques such as casting on, knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round using circular needles or double-pointed needles, and creating the various parts of a sock. Students will be able to purchase their own yarn, so it suits their taste. A simple version of a Vanilla Latte sock pattern will be followed, with instructor guidance and homework built into the four-session course.
By the end of this class, you will have a beautiful, custom pair of socks made with your own hands and the confidence to tackle more advanced sock patterns in the future!
This 4-week course will be held weekly from 6-9 pm on Tuesday, January 14, and 6-8 pm, January 21-February 4, 2025, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway St. in Mt. Pleasant.
