Instructor Cheryl Meyer will guide you in building a foundation in watercolors. This skill-building workshop covers watercolor basics such as painting paper and canvas, various brush strokes and techniques, watercolor pencils, color theory, and mixing colors. This course will also cover hard versus soft edges, wet on wet, dry on dry, pouring, glazing, spritzing, masking techniques, correcting mistakes, value sketches, and methods of putting the drawing on paper. Students will experiment with each of the techniques and make a color chart of mixed colors. The final project will be a take-home project using all the techniques presented.
The four-week class will be held from 3-5 pm, Thursdays, September 14 through October 5 in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
