Norval K. Morey Cancer Center Art Exhibit - Strength for the Arts
Central Michigan Community Hospital, Art Reach of Mid Michigan, and The Morey Foundation would like to invite and encourage anyone who is interested to participate in the “Strength Through Art” art exhibit.
In celebration of the fifth year of the Norval K. Morey Cancer Center, “Strength Through Art” honors the journeys people face when confronted with a cancer diagnosis. This event invites individuals diagnosed with any type of cancer, their families, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers, to express through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journeys profound meaning. Most importantly, it is a way to honor and celebrate the lives of those impacted by cancer.
About the exhibit:
Submitted artwork will be unveiled at the Survivor’s Day Celebration and Five Year Anniversary Event of the Norval K. Morey Cancer Center on September 23, 2010.
A public exhibit of accepted entries will be on display at Art Reach of Mid Michigan from October 4 -15, 2010. In addition, all artwork and narratives will be published in a full color booklet.

Healing Arts
Artists needed for the Healing Arts program (Program). Our mission, through this program, is to enhance the quality of life, and promote dignity, respect, and a sense of accomplishment for persons with special needs and individuals living in mid-Michigan community care facilities, assisted living centers, senior housing complexes, and senior centers (facility or facilities). We endeavor to accomplish this mission by providing access to the healing arts through hands-on creative art activities, education, and experiences. Art Reach implements the Program by arranging for an artist to visit one or more facilities to engage residents in a creative art project. Typically, this involves two or three visits to the facility by the artist over a period of two or three consecutive months, and each visit usually last for one hour. Please contact Lynn Lipe at 989-773-3689 or Barbara Taylor at 989.621.6913 to volunteer as an artist in the Healing Arts program.
Off Site Galleries
We are on the look out for artists who would like to display their work at one of our off-site galleries. We have opportunities for artists to show their work at Mid Michigan Health Park, Veterans Memorial Library and Isabella County Commission on Aging. If you are interested, please email Lynn at llipe@artreachcenter,org or call (989) 773-3689.
